So we thought we would leave you starting the weekend with incredible food on your mind!

Our third supplier of our 7 Wonders of the Wedding Industry blog series is the super talented catering company, Indulgence. Run by husband and wife team Anthony and Jo with their dedicated staff, Indulgence produce bespoke boutique menus allowing you to treat your guests to a very special culinary experience.

We have worked with Indulgence on numerous occasions and their professional, friendly and organised manner means the day flows smoothly making them a dream to work along side. Below is the Q&A session we did with Jo Robinson, Indulgence’s Event Director.

We know you love your job, what is it about what you do that you love the most?

We absolutely love being a part of couples’ special day and helping turn their vision and dreams into reality.

How would you describe your style?

We are passionate about the food we serve and while our skills lend themselves to contemporary cooking and presentation, we chat to clients first and foremost about where they like to eat and what style they have as the whole vision for their day.  So we offer wedding clients a completely bespoke service whether it be rustic family style served food to very modern presentation and new innovative cooking methods.  We have a brilliant team of chefs whose combined background including Michelin Star credentials, means we can create anything.

A great example of this was of a client six years ago and their favourite place to eat was a new emerging Peruvian restaurant, Lima, which has since been honoured with a Michelin star.  We went and ate the bride and grooms favourite dishes and re-created them for the wedding breakfast and it was a resounding success – the client adored it and their guests were totally wowed by the flavours and presentation – they said that every thank you letter received commented on the outstanding food.

To thank us they bought us the most beautiful Peruvian cashmere blanket that is big enough for our family to snuggle under when we are watching a film together – and every time it comes out I remember the couple with such fondness.  

What is it about the wedding industry that you are so clearly passionate about?

You only have one shot at this, there are no second chances to make everything perfect.  Despite working on weddings for over 15 years, I still get a little nervous energy that makes all of the team want to do the very best job possible and fulfil wedding perfection in all that we do, both in terms of service and food.  Also, I love all the tiny details that are unique to weddings and reflect the couples’ personalities.

What piece of advice would you give to new couples just starting out with their planning?

Surround yourselves with wedding experts and be sure you have faith in all that they do, whether it be the dress, flowers, cake etc. If you have an inkling of doubt find someone else or ask the suppliers you like working with to recommend someone – all good wedding suppliers have an extensive network of very special people to work with.  

What does being part of a couples special day mean to you?

Although at our wedding our main focus is on the food and drink, we tie all the details and timings together for the whole day.  The trust couples show in us is repaid by doing the absolute best we can.  So many of our clients come to a tasting for 2 and are blown away that the quality of our food in both presentation and taste can be replicated for 200 on the day.  All of our team build up a great relationship with wedding couples and the excellent feedback we receive is so rewarding.

You must have shared so many wonderful memories over the years in the industry what would be up there with one of your favourites?

Wow – there are so many but one of my favourites was a New Year’s Day marquee wedding eight years ago – their marquee was set up as nightclub on New Year’s Eve with black star cloths, deep purple and dark pink linen and flowers.  Guests danced until midnight.  Overnight all the black marquee linings were taken down revealing pure white linings and white flowers were in abundance everywhere, new furniture was brought in and the couple got married in their local church and returned for a delicious feast.  The guests were all totally overwhelmed by the changes to the marquee from a dark nightclub to a pure white ‘new year’ theme.

It was one of the hardest weddings, logistically, we have ever done and the team worked so hard in turning the marquee around overnight on New Year’s Eve/Day but it was an amazing wedding to be involved with and all of our crew and other suppliers worked so well together to make it such a magical couple of days. 

In fact the mother of the bride was in touch last week to discuss another daughter’s wedding.
